Alaska Criminal History Background Check Notice

The Alaska Criminal History Background Check Portal is currently experiencing delays due to scheduled maintenance. Requests may take longer than usual to process.

Fees: All Alaska Criminal History Reports are $20 for the initial report. Each additional copy is $5.00.

How to Request Your Alaska Criminal History Report

In-Person Requests

Visit an approved walk-in location. See the list of Authorized Background Check Locations
Bring two forms of photo ID:
- One must be government-issued.
- The other must include your full legal name.
Contact the location directly for payment options. Most locations accept cash, check, and money order.

Mail-In Requests

Payment may only be received as cash, check, or money order.

Request Criminal History by the Record Subject

Complete the appropriate form in full.
Mail the form and payment to the Department of Public Safety’s Applicant Records Unit.
Forms received incomplete or missing payment will be returned to the requestor for correction.

Third-Party Requests

The record subject must:
- Sign the consent portion of the ‘Subject Information’ form authorizing release.
- Sign the Unsworn Falsification Statement at the bottom of the form.

To obtain a copy of your criminal history report in accordance with Alaska Statute 12.62, a social security number and either a state driver’s license or a Division of Motor Vehicle issued state identification number must be entered in order to verify your identity.

If these documents are not available, or you do not want to enter this information online, you will need to use the in person or the mail-in option to obtain a copy of your State of Alaska criminal history record.
